Jayess is an unincorporated community located in Lawrence County, Mississippi, United States. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, along Highway 587, about 7 miles east of Monticello. The community is named after its founding fathers, James and Jessie Jaye.
Jayess is part of Lawrence County School District, which includes several schools, such as Lawrence County High School, Lawrence County Academy, and New Hebron Elementary School. The community also has a volunteer fire department and a community center.
Jayess is a small, rural community with a population of approximately 750 people. The majority of residents work in agriculture, forestry, and manufacturing industries. The community is known for its pine forests and logging operations, as well as its hunting and fishing opportunities.
